Wanda Dorchak
Wanda is the retired Franklin County Clerk. Elected in 1989, she was the first woman in the history of the county to be elected to a county-wide office retiring January 2013. Wanda managed many departments under the umbrella of her title, such as: Clerk of the Supreme & County Courts, Recording Office, Passport Office, Pistol Permit Dept, Motor Vehicle Dept, in Malone and Saranac Lake (which she opened in 1992). She was the Records Management Officer for the county and successfully obtained 19 grants. She attended both Clinton Community College and North Country Community College taking various courses to advance her career. She also completed courses in Grant Writing with the NYS Archives. Wanda served as President of the NYS Association of County Clerks in 2004. She was a member of Kiwanis, Business & Professional Women’s organization, and Chairperson of the 2008 County Bicentennial. Wanda is the widow of Frank P. Dorchak and worked with him on the many veterans programs he was affiliated with. Wanda resides in Malone with her yellow lab, Capt. Woody Morgan.
